Before

PROMPT—The story I told myself ...

my love

unlike a rose

grew through

shortened seasons

in question mark

seas with hopes

beyond my shores

and joy behind

my years

‘til you

unsmiling sighed

quiet eyes

sheltering

a bruised heart -

then spoke

of dire pasts

uncertain futures

and the price

of being alive

N.T. Chambers has been on the planet a while. The author writes about the wide variety of experiences intrinsic to human nature. Life with a partner and their young bulldog named Tulip, in the high desert of Arizona, provides ample and unique opportunities for reflection and self-discovery. These usually evolve into different literary creations. Over 50 poems, short stories and essays have been published in various journals, magazines, and anthologies.
