It Cracked Me Open

By Jennifer M. MacDonald

PROMPT — Who am I today?

It cracked me open.

I was in Love

and he loved me

I thought

I mean, you did say

I LOVE YOU

But I Don’t

love

you

I don’t love you

like

THAT

he said

Plunder my heart

DOWN,

Down,

down

You plunge me

Spiral into

a chasm

Depression

When I climb

broken, cut

Out this

story from

My gut
