Standing on a Lonely Beach

By Birdman313

PROMPT — Joy is ...

I stand on a lonely beach looking

at footprints in the sand.

Thousands of miles of the Bay can be seen.

It seems to stretch out for an eternity.

Waves wash upon the shoreline, while

the wind moves the sand across the beach.

Seagull squawk as they fly over the bay while all

other living creatures are silent trying

not to disturb the peace of the sea and sky.

While silence wraps around the beach,

the sun shines silently.

When its daily race is run, the sun

sinks softly down into the sea quietly.

Its job is done.

Standing there on a lonely beach,

I close my eyes as the cool mist relaxes my soul.

With every blue wave that crashes against the sandy beach,

my stress washes away.
