When The Tables Turn

By Sydney Dabney

PROMPT—Privilege ...

Imagine if you were in our shoes Imagine if the roles reversed Us, the oppressor And you, the oppressed The ones who are ignored yet being watched like hawks The ones who are accused of crimes they didn’t commit The ones who are beaten to the ground The ones who can’t breathe because of a knee on their neck The ones who are shot and killed for no reason… Who would bat an eye? How would the world react If we did the things you do to us?

Sydney Dabney is a Junior at Downingtown East High School. She was born in Piscataway, New Jersey and currently resides in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.
