Death of She

By Jennifer Brown Banks

PROMPT — Who am I today?

Who am I today?

A survivor,

I am less than

I was yesterday,

Yet more than

I thought I could be,

In the presence of her absence,

The death of she

Who gave life to me....

Who am I today?

Confused,

Broken,

Like a fraction reduced to its lowest terms,

Yet made whole

By the strength

Of the legacy

She leaves me
