PROMPT — Despite ...

Gots to Break Through Somehow

A headiness that blocks me up

makes me want to vomit

Flummoxed by unnecessary

dumb-ass complications

it gets tough to move beyond

lost in clouds uh dreaminess...

A mass of misperception

hangs around, it blocks the pipes,

manufactures distance.

Thinking life's a waste of time and effort,

just a sham...

the mistake i make is not

to see or understand.

The ego needs deception,

it plays many tricks

blocking off awareness

distorting all reality...

The truth in me is complicated,

hard to see through energies with

wicked bends and twists.

Because of existential pain

tough to simply be at peace,

accept the underlying truth.

II.

Breaking free from paranoia

leaving behind misperceptions,

cleaving to some healing...

Where i can breathe and simply be

tolerant and present,

with no need to pose like some

pretentious hepcat beast.

No more useless slinking through the hallways of delusion,

shrugging off threat and danger

capable of lifting self up from a hole...

transcending!

Not caught up or terrified

by nightmares

all around...

III.

The ego does this,

playing tricks

diminishing debauching

destroying heart and soul.

Egos blockages and blight

inhibiting efficiently

breed despair and misery

diminishing community...

Practicing chicanery

furthering stupidity

doing so ridiculously,

pumping puerile energy

into paranoia.

The ego does this,

playing tricks

it's tough to understand

the underlying truth...

Contemplations necessary

to attain some breakthrough,

understanding deeply

the beginnings of love. * plainwilder's Fauxbrow style evokes a playful poetic language. It draws on musicality and a calm, open-minded wonder and appreciation for timeless moments. Following a precedent set by Emily Dickinson and John Berryman, this text assigns a number to each title. With this fauxbrow (pronounced fo-brow) craft, he draws inspiration from the innovative experimentation of early 20th Century painting, poking fun, satirical strokes into the social fabric of today.

b. plainwilder's work writing has appeared in hundreds of publications, including Poetry New Zealand, Chronogram, The Feathertale Review, The Pacific Review, The Seattle Review, to name a few.
