PROMPT—No one noticed ...

The moment I wake up

I allow myself a silent prayer

Before I dive myself into chaos:

Children refusing to chew

Ants caressing last night’s dishes

Forgotten homework

Lost sock

Towels on bed

Another set of dishes to be washed

Dogs waiting for me to see them pee

And when finally

the children are at school

and silence

begins to fill our walls

I sit on my chair

With what was left of the chaos of the morning

I bring out my pen

And start to write

I am thankful to be home
